Willmar Public Schools/Community Ed and Rec

Willmar Public Schools offers 1/2 day and full day preschool options for children ages 3-5 in all of our elementary schools beginning Fall 2018. Preschool is designed to provide children with  opportunities to grow in all aspects of development. Our program content, highly qualified teachers and use of best practices have earned our program the highest rating through Parent Aware. We offer financial support through Voluntary Pre-K and Early Learning Scholarships.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a program for all
Willmar families with children between the ages of birth to
kindergarten entrance. ECFE is based on the idea that the family provides a child’s first and most significant learning environment and parents are a child’s first and most important teachers. ECFE works to strengthen families. ECFE’s goal is to enhance the ability of all parents to provide the best possible environment for their child’s learning and growth. In addition to classes ECFE offers parent child events, home visits, classes with the library and much more.

United Community Action Partnership

.

Heartland Head Start is a comprehensive child and family program serving children who are three to five years of age. Heartland Head Start partners with eligible families to build on their strengths to reach their goals. Family and Community Engagement is an important part of the Head Start program. We believe that families are the child’s first and most important teachers. Children do best in life when they grow up with the active, positive involvement of family and community members that care.

Heartland Head Start offers a variety of early learning options including center based (4 days a week), Home Base, and Combination educational opportunities. Heartland Head Start utilizes the Creative Curriculum and monitors and supports both Child and Family outcomes in an effort to ensure that children enter school ready to learn.

If interested in applying for Head Start or becoming a community volunteer please call or email.
